This Is Coming Home.

LYRICS & SONG ANALYSIS

Verse 1:

Hey, when the sky is fallin’

I’m ready to move

Hey, when the rain’s not stoppin’

I’m not gonna lose

Pre:

You give me a reason, don’t wanna listen, I know I’m right, yea,

You point* (pull) me to silence, hiding my voice

I’m, shoutin’ out loud

Chorus:

This is coming home

We’re, gonna make it known

We’re, gonna give them something phenomenal

You’ll know that we’re worth the wait, yea

This is coming home

We’re, doing this for us

We’re, gonna give them something phenomenal

Something that you’ll never see,

You’ll wanna keep your eyes on me

Verse 2:

Hey, when I gain my power

I’ll break all your norms

Hey, comin’ from the center

Controllin’ the storm

Bridge:

The words you’re sayin to yourself

I know those fears all too well

[I know] it’s hard to let them go

Never thought inside of you

There could be somebody who

Who’d be willing to show them all

My inspiration for the song This Is Coming Home first originated after seeing and researching more about the 2019 Women’s March. I wanted to compose a song that promoted a perspective of female empowerment and feminism with a set of lyrics that arose out of serious reflection on day-to-day observations and monumental social trends, such as the creation and passing of legislation that concerns the treatment of and attitudes towards women globally.

This Is Coming Home aims to represent women’s desire for greater positive social change. The chorus of this song represents the tremendous potential and power that women hold, but society is holding back due to issues with politics or perception. The song is also a callout to all individuals who identify as female, sending a message that we should fight against oppression and go after happiness for ourselves and not for the benefit of others.

This Is Coming Home recognizes the worthiness of all women, tearing off the brand of being beautiful and virtuous and re-inventing women as influential leaders.
